How to serve water at the table?

Duchess Portrait

The water glass is never empty
You don't fill your glass to the brim
Nor do you stretch your arm in front of your neighbor's nose to retrieve the bottle

But how should we do it?

First of all, we always fill all the water glasses just before going to the table so that those who have to take a tablet, for example - in all discretion - can do so!
It's up to men to fill everyone's glass regularly (and a little) and especially women's
We use it last after checking that the neighboring glasses are not overdue
We politely ask to have the bottle passed to us, or to be served by our gallant neighbor if we are a lady.
